On March 14, the Arabia Foundation hosted its first 2018 event “The MBS Visit: US-Saudi Ties Amidst Uncertainty,” in anticipation of the Saudi crown prince’s upcoming visit to the United States. MBS will visit Boston, Silicon Valley, Houston, and Los Angeles, as well as Washington, in a tour which will likely place as much, if not more, emphasis on US-Saudi economic and commercial ties as it will the political relationship. CNN Global Affairs correspondent Elise Labott moderated a distinguished panel of speakers including Pulitzer Prize-winning author and New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman, Princeton University Professor Bernard Haykel, Former US Senior Intelligence Official Norman Roule, and Council on Foreign Relations’ Senior Fellow Steven A. Cook. During a lively and candid discussion, the panel gave their assessments on the present and future of the US-Saudi relationship at a time of tumultuous and transformative change in both countries. We invite you to watch the full debate above.
